Favourites: Eye Products

Favourite Eye Creams

Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado Oil

Through August & into September I have been loving the Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado Oil.

I had been wanting to try this for the longest time but at about $52AU I found it a bit out of my reach for a 14g product.

However, after receiving a 5ml satchel (on the day out with Jadegrrrl & Sabine) from a lovely lady at the Kiehl's counter I have been very happy with the product. So much so that I removed every trace of the sample with my mini spatula & put it into a little sterilised pot (as pictured below).

I then decided to fork out $19US & purchase the full size from ACW (www.allcosmeticswholesale.com) & I am saving it for when I run out of the sample!

I use it during the day under my eye area before I put on my corrector/concealer. I found it keeps that delicate area moisturised & appearing "smoother" (probably because it is hydrated) as well as helping my makeup glide on.

The Avocado Oil it promotes is about 8th on the ingredients list but like most lotions it is mainly composed of water but it also has shea butter.

I still love my Olay Eye Gel with Cucumber Extract (pictured below) for night time & I have been using this product on & off for many years.

I apply this after I have removed my makeup & I find it soothes & refreshes my under eye area as well as helps with any puffiness overnight.

It is a clear, non-sticky gel
which retails anywhere between $11 to $16AU.

Favourites: Body Beauty Products I am loving to Beat the Winter Blues

Body Beauty Products I am loving
to Beat the Winter Blues

She's Back!

Ok I thought since I have been MIA for so long I would do a biggish update of all the body goodies that have been keeping me going for the last few & rather cold months...

Those of you who follow me on You Tube may have seen some reviews on these goodies but some of these products I haven't even mentioned in my hauls!!

Sukin Organics

First off I am into Sukin Organics available at Priceline & most pharmacies or online at www.sukinorganics.com.au I have been using the range for about 3 months now & am loving the Facial Moisturiser, Hydrating Body Lotion, Hand & Nail Cream & Hydrating Mist Toner.(RRP ranging from $9.99 - $13.99AU)

You can check out my review: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i72zmwSCHRI

I am still using the range & debating whether to try the Facial Mask or the hair care products - stay tuned as I will post up any new additions! (After IMATS mid September I plan to cut down any unnecessary hauling of body products & concentrate on using what I have...well we shall see!)

Olive by Langlois Australia
As for the next brand that has been topping my "go-to" list for the cold months here in Australia has been an Australian owned & made brand - Olive by Langlois Australia. A range of products containing Extra Virgin Olive Oil made on the grove & pressed on their very own cold press.

You can pick up the range at a variety of pharmacies & health food stores listed at the site or buy from their online store http://www.olivebylanglois.com/ezimerchant/index.htm

I was impressed by the free shipping over $20 for purchases in Australia (normally sites will have a minimum $40 spend or up to $100 before postage is waived). Also for a limited time they have a special purchase offer available based around the video overview I did a few weeks ago on the Design Your Own range & lip balms I mentioned.

Check out the news at Olive by Langlois & this offer on their home page http://www.olivebylanglois.com/home.html

My review -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gNngcd5T_0

I have also picked up a few more goodies as pictured below: Dewberry + Walnut Face & Body Scrub, & the Moisturising Cleansing Bar - paid for by myself - while the Anti-bacterial Scrub was kindly supplied by Vici from Olive by Langlois. I will be doing a full review of the Creams & Lotions as well as these cleansers in a few weeks time as well as the lip balms that I love Musk, Vanilla & Lavender. You can also pick up the lip balms from www.addicted2lipbalm.com.au for all those discerning lippie product lovers out there!

The goodies below I haven't reviewed yet but I love them so!

Who Goo? It's MooGoo!

I saw a post by Jadegrrrl www.youtube.com/user/jadegrrrl & she praised the benefits of MooGoo moisturiser for her skin. The name alone intrigued me & I had a looksie at the site www.moogoo.com.au have products adapted from a cream that was originally designed to help heal cows udders...well that is a condensed version you can check out the background on the site! But I have so far been loving the rich velvety "milky goodness" of the Full Cream MooGoo. I got this from a Health Food Store for $12.95AU

Next!

I'm wearing a grin so I think it's a Win!
Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

Now looking at the photo above you can see that is a sample satchel & indeed I have "debagged" (um, well that's the best "word" I could come up with!) the sample & put it in a little pot. It was a rather generous 5ml sample that we each received when we had a little Youtuber get together a few weeks ago from the Kiehl's counter in the city.

I can't stand the mess that is made from sample bags & the fact that you can't seal it again so I got a little spatula & scooped out every little bit I could & put it in a sterile screw top container. I am happy to report it is keeping it nice & moist. I should hope so since to buy the full size (15ml) is $52AU & I am enjoying the sample so much! I find it very soft & creamy & goes on nicely under the delicate eye area.

I have never had particularly dry under eyes but I do find that during the colder months the fine lines & skin is heavier when I am wearing makeup. But since wearing this product under my concealer or correctors it looks much more natural & the skin feels so soft & appears much smoother!

Body America

Next for a bit of scented yumminess for the body I have picked up a few products from the aptly named Body America - Organics with Attitude purchased at Total Beauty Network - www.tbn.com.au The range has that 50's glamour with creatively named & sensually scented products.

There are four lines so elegantly named & equally fruity: Southern Belle ( Peach + Mango), Toast to the Coast (Ocean + Grape seed), New York Cheesecake (Vanilla + Strawberry) & Vermont Va Va Voom (Green Apple, Maple & Blueberry)

Since I love anything mentioning green apples, I couldn't resist trying the Vermont Va Va Voom line. A wild but sweet mix in the Refreshing Body Mist & the Body Butter Pump (also available in each of the scented lines are a Lip Butter, Shower Mousse & a Body Butter Tub)

I will be doing a proper review on these products later in the month & hopefully will have a chance to pick up some of the other lines!

Now to something less elegant - E Creams & Ointments!

It seems in the colder months I reach for products that are for dry skin, blemishes & for scratches. So far over I have been using Invite Vitamin E Cream for my dry skin or Roskin skin repair Vitamin E Cream both 100g tubes available at Priceline, department stores & I have even seen in the grocery stores.

They both claim to be "high potency/concentrated formulas" & have been handy for clearing up dry patches quickly (but so has the MooGoo!) that happens since all I am wearing are clothes that reveal as little skin as possible!

Also pictured to the left is Luca's Papaw Ointment. I actually mentioned this in my favourite products for July http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8e6cnlUZfY8

The ointment is essentially a local product of fermented Papaya & I have found it great for cuts & scratches I have been getting on my hands since I have been a clumsy clots (plus is has been great for my cuticles too!)

What an Ego...

Lastly but definitely not least is some products from Ego Pharmaceuticals - Sun Sense daily face Invisible Tint (with SPF 30+) & the QV Naked Deodorants.

I like to wear tinted moisturisers that have SPF under my makeup or on it's own & it doesn't matter that it is winter, I still want protection from the UVA & UVB. The Daily Face from SunSense gives a nice light layer of moisturiser & SPF protection through out the day.

It is a pretty cheap but nice formula (matt finish & oil free) that is available at Priceline, most chemists, department stores & grocery stores. I like the 30g tube but there is also 100 & 200 pumps available. RRP ranging from $7-9AU.

Also during the colder months no excuse not to keep deodorised! The QV Naked range has Biosorb Crystals & I have been using the - Fragrance + Aluminium Free Deodorant (white lid) & my hubby has been using the Anti-Perspirant that is alcohol free (blue lid). This is about $4-$5AU & is available at Priceline, most chemists & grocery stores.

88 Crush Cosmetics Palettes

88 Warm Palette & 88 Shimmer Palette
Crush Cosmetics
I purchased the two palettes from http://www.crushcosmetics.com.au/
The bascis - The palette is a black shiny plastic & inside the eyeshadow guide is a softer plastic tray. When closed the palette measures approx 230 x 165mm & weighs just over 353 grams.
The palettes both have a mirror on the top inside cover approx 127 x 80mm which has two eyeshadow applicators, one either side of the mirror.

Above:
(left) 88 Shimmer Palette, (right) 88 Warm Palette
The 88 Warm Palette

As pictured above, each palette has the "Crush Cosmetics" label on the front (I stuck a little 88W or 88S colour sticker so I could distinguish between the two). Although on the back of each is a small silver sticker "88W" for the Warm Palette or "88P" for the Shimmer Palette.

The palette/s come in a black box with the ingrediants listed on the back, & the expiry date.

When opening the palette there is a slight aroma, similar to "olive oil", but this is not unpleasant & I cannot smell this on the actual eyeshadows.

As shown in the pictures right & below, the colour range is mostly earthy from off-whites, greys/silvers, camo colours on the far left. Then moving into creams, a few berrys & sand & deep brown shades centre to far right.

The 88 Crush Cosmetics Palette has a variety of matte & shimmery shades & would be useful for those wanting an everyday eye look palette for neutral to gentle smokey eye looks.

I have only seen pictures & footage in reviews/blogs but the palette does look a lot like the 88 Neutral Palette from Coastal Scents but I am happy that I can finally get an 88 palette locally!

Left & below:

Closer shots of the 88 Crush Cosmetics Warm Palette

The eye shadows are softer & more powdery than some of my other "higher end brands" that I have tried, such as MAC or Nars. Some are even softer in consistency than Stila or Benefit shadows & are a bit "chalky".

However the quality of most of the eyeshadows are very good for the price. I bought the palettes on sale for about $27.95 which works out to approximately less than $0.32 each. Full price is $34.95 working out at less than $0.40 for each pan.

The size of the pans are about 15mm in diameter which for those of you in Australia is smaller than a 5 cent piece. However the pans do not seem very shallow & there is a fair amount in each one. There is also several shades in the palette/s that are very similar.

The texture & pigmentation in the 88 Warm Palette is similar to some other "lower end" brands I have like NYX & elf, BYS, Australis, Models Prefer & TCW.

Right: Close up of bottom centre colours that I have used both matte & shimmery shades

Below: Close up of colours bottom far right of the 88 Warm Palette

The 88 Shimmer Crush Cosmetics Palette

As the name suggests all the 88 shadows in the palette are shimmery. The list of ingrediants & expiry sticker on the box is the same as the 88 Warm Palette.

When opening the palette there is also the same "olive oil" scent but I could not smell this when using the eyeshadows.

Above: When opening the palette the colours appear very intense & from left to right colours range from golden hues to greens, blues, berrys, purples, pinks, reddy orange, greys & browns.

Below: Close up of palette bottom left

The eyeshadows are quiet soft & smooth & blend very nicely. Although the bright colours tend to leave a bright stain on the brush it is very easy to remove when spot cleaning or deep cleaning.

The texture of the shadows reminded me of Stila, Benefit, NYX, elf & Chi Chi brands although the pigmentation is not as intense as the colour first suggests.

I did a swatch of three colours the brightest dolly pink (row 7, far right of the palette), the green bottom right of the palette & the blue (row 7, bottom right). I did these with my fingers to show as best I could the texture & the colour intensity of the shadows. (Yes, I cleaned my hands but with the natural oils & surface area it won't really look like this on the eye). So I would recommend using a eye lid primer or good base with these colours if you want the intensity of the colours.

Right: Close up of the bottom far right but the colour
is washed out here.

Last Thoughts...

Overall for the price of this palette I am quite satisfied with the quality. It will not replace my other "higher end' shadows but will be a great addition to my eye shadow range & I can work the colours of both palettes with all my other brands. It will also be great to take the palettes if I am travelling away for a while & want to do a lot of different looks, for work or play.

Napoleon Perdis Book Signing Event at Target - Forever Flawless

Some of the NP Make up Team above. I'm sure I saw Siobhan Kelly & Tracey Zenatti too but I didn't snap them in action!

Filming of the event & some customers getting their make up done in 3 cubicles by the NP Professional MUA's!

Charli Delaney (hi-5) hosted the event & toured the audience asking the waiting attendees their make up questions for Napoleon.

Glamour abound!

The Napoleon Perdis MUA's were handing out gift bags to the first 100 attendees.
I'm pretty sure that below is Tannia Tiropanis from the National Creative team below.
Btw, all the MUA's were gorgeous!

The goodies in the gift bag. Thanks Target & NP!
We received a Runway Star Lip Gloss Trio Set, NP Pre-Foundation Primer Base Visage sample, $5 Target gift card, Target footless tights in black & a free fusion t-shirt which Napoleon kindly signed for me!

The man himself is just about to make his grand entrance...

There was a clip of the celebrities & looks NP has done. I caught this on video & will post this to my YT channel.

I had a snap of another MUA on the right (I'm sure it was Nicola Snell but she had red hair instead of blonde) but it was all blurry
